Minsur is proud of being the world’s first tin mining company successfully implementing traceability with blockchain technology. Currently, this technology is used by 100% of tin production in Peru, which is commercialized under the “SusTINable” brand.
This process is already implemented in the San Rafael MU and the Pisco SRP, as well as in the commercial offices in Lima, marking the beginning of a new era for a transparent and responsible mining industry.
The next step is assessing the use of this technology in the Taboca MU, in Brazil, including both the Pitinga mine and the Pirapora SRP.
Minsur’s vision goes beyond its direct operations. It aims at expanding the use of blockchain technology along all of its supply chain.
It closely collaborates with its customers for the implementation of this technology, promoting available and accessible information for more stakeholders in the mining industry.
Promoting traceability is fundamental internally within Minsur and internationally. We collaborate with prestigious institutions, such as the International Tin Association (ITA) and the International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM) to lead initiatives that promote the highest standards in the mining industry.
As traceability is being achieved, we aim at a more ambitious objective. The goal is expanding this pioneering technology to the mining of other metals, such as copper and gold, as well as their derivatives.
This is a crucial moment for Minsur as a Peruvian and global mining company. Our leading role in the implementation of this new technology, proves how committed we are to innovation and sets the standard for a sustainable future in the mining industry. The company appreciates the effort made by its staff and by all those who contributed to this extraordinary achievement.
